Be the hands of Christ, caring for the people of God.
—Rev. Frank McElroy Sr. Founder, Presbyterian Homes of Georgia

This message from our founder still inspires us today.

We invite you to join in our mission.

CARING HANDS FUND | PRESBYTERIAN HOMES OF GEORGIA

Your support ensures a place for our residents

“You are the hands of Christ, caring for the people of God.” Those were the words spoken in 1949 by our founder, Rev. Frank McElroy, Sr. to the staff at the first Presbyterian Home in Quitman. The Caring Hands Fund takes its name from that powerful charge; your generous support of people ensures that our residents can live free of concern about their financial need. We have never asked a resident to leave because their financial resources have been exhausted and, God willing, we never will. Other times a resident may need a prescription he or she can’t afford. For those in our income-based senior housing communities, there may be challenges with food insecurity, transportation, or the need for medical care. Because we believe that the spiritual care of our residents is equally important, the Caring Hands Fund makes it possible for residents at each of our campuses to have access to a chaplain.

As a Christian ministry open to all, our mission is to ensure every resident in a Presbyterian Homes of Georgia community has access to exceptional, life-enhancing services and the things they need to live. Quite simply, when we see a need, we seek to meet it.

When you give to the Caring Hands Fund, you’re choosing to be the helping hand a resident may need. And together, we’re making a difference for more than 1,300 Georgia seniors.

HOW TO SUPPORT CARING HANDS

Make a Difference in the Lives of Seniors

Our ministry was inspired by a simple yet powerful question asked by an elderly woman in 1942: "Is there a place for me?" Please watch this video to hear a few Presbyterian Homes of Georgia residents describe the place they call home and the support they have received from the Caring Hands Fund.

CARING HANDS CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT

Golf for a good cause.

The annual Caring Hands Classic golf tournament provides significant financial support for the Caring Hands Fund. Typically played at the Atlanta Athletic Club, the Classic provides corporate and business leaders the opportunity to come together for a day of fresh air, exercise, and camaraderie while raising vital funds to assist residents of Presbyterian Homes communities when they’re in need.

THE CARING HANDS OFFERING

Join Georgia Presbyterians in supporting seniors.

For decades, the members of Georgia’s Presbyterian churches have expressed the love of Christ by participating in the annual Caring Hands Offering. This special offering supports the Caring Hands Fund and directly impacts residents and their families, giving them priceless security and peace of mind.

CONANT ENDOWMENT FUND

Help build a lasting legacy of security.

The Miriam and John A. Conant Endowment memorializes the Conants’ devotion to Presbyterian Homes of Georgia. Born when John issued a challenge to Presbyterian Homes' supporters to increase an existing endowment, the Conant Endowment Fund helps ensure PHGA can continue to care for residents who have outlived their resources through no fault of their own.

DONOR-ADVISED FUND GIVING

Your donor-advised fund can support Caring Hands.

Donor-advised funds are managed and invested with the purpose of supporting the charitable organizations chosen by the fund donor. These funds also offer tax and estate planning benefits. Making Caring Hands the recipient of a distribution from your donor-advised fund is a simple yet powerful way to offer peace of mind to residents of Presbyterian Homes while supporting your philanthropic objectives.
