Tee it up for Presbyterian Homes of Georgia's 6th Annual Caring Hands Classic golf tournament on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek. Don't miss a minute of the pre-tournament fun at the Ceilidh Auction on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Atlanta Athletic Club. All proceeds benefit the Caring Hands Fund, Presbyterian Homes' vital ministry to frail and vulnerable residents.
Tournament Format
Play format will be a "bramble" and prizes will be awarded for the top four teams net and gross. Shotgun start will be at 11 a.m. An awards ceremony and dinner will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Calling All Church Teams For the Knox Challenge
The Caring Hands Classic features a tournament within the tournament—a church team versus church team challenge to win the Knox Cup, a trophy held for one year by the winning team.
The challenge is named for John Knox, the father of Scotland's Protestant Reformation. Golf lore links Knox to the golf term fore! Knox told of persons arriving at Edinburgh's east gate and being forewarned of artillery fire overhead with the words Ware Before! Over time, this was shortened to fore, which somehow made its way from the gate post to the golf links.
RegistrationPreferred Registration for 2011 sponsors, new sponsors, and 2011 players ends June 15, 2012.
Open Registration begins June 16, 2012 and is offered on a first come, first served basis.
Fifty-four teams will be accepted in the 2012 Caring Hands Classic. Register early to assure your place and join us at the home of the 2011 PGA Championship.
